Job Board, like, 9 or something
Again, can’t remember where I am with these things but regardless, on with the jobs. The Noblet Design Group is looking for a Graphic Designer in Regina. From the post:
You are a graphic designer with a proven, strong conceptual ability. You can analyze a communication need and boil it down to an effective visual message, be it in a logo or an advertising concept.
You are able to communicate for a variety of clients, and can relate to a varied audience, be it corporate, youth, industry, or the general public.
You are a team player and of course you are fluent in the standard industry software. Your ability to design for print or web (no HTML required) and other interactive applications will be an asset.
Worth a look if you’re, you know, a graphic designer. Or hey, even if you’re not it’s worth a shot right? Noblet recently won in the $10,000 - $49,000 Budget category at the SaskInteractive Awards. The way SaskInteractive broke categories by budget seems really weird to me.
Online more you’re thing? Oh! Media is looking for a Web Developer. Some keys from the post:
- Build both static and dynamic websites using a combination of client and server-side languages.
- Ability to produce and edit web content using HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL.
- Document code, track and fix bugs and glitches.
- Some experience in website design, layout and construction.
Oh! Media recently updated their site and it looks pretty good (not a big fan of that “fresh work” ribbon but I think it’s just the color. The switcher is really neat though!) Also, Oh! has been keeping a blog with some tips and tricks for developers. So far mostly SEO stuff but it might be worth subscribing to the feed to see where it goes.
Next up, “holy scary job titles Batman” at the University of Regina. The two you might be interested in:
Scary huh? Looking for candidates with CS degrees, field work for 8-10 years, standards awareness, web tech and tools (browsers) knowledge, Web 2.0 technologies (AJAX, Ruby On Rails?) familiarity, knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML and some scripting languages like PHP, Perl, um, Ruby (see where I was going with that question mark?). I’ve got a friend that works at the U of R and he really enjoys it so maybe this is something to look into if you’re um, into this sort of thing.
Just a side note. Isn’t it best to know XML plus XSLT and X-Path or is that just me? If you wanna familiarize yourself with XML/XSLT, a great place to start would be looking into Symphony, an open source CMS that uses both. Apparently now at 2.0 which is news to me. Seems I haven’t been keeping up.
