Web Folder

I’ve updated my Web Folder Automator workflow to a different version. If you don’t know what that is, I’ll give you a little rundown:

What Web Folder Does

On launch, Web Folder creates a Folder named Web on your desktop. You should likely rename this to whatever the name of the project is you’re working on. Makes sense right? But wait, there’s more! Inside that folder you will find:

A folder labeled css containing:

  • One CSS file labeled reset.css containing, you guessed it, Eric Meyer’s Reset CSS.
  • One CSS file labeled style.css containing a bunch of starter styling of blockquotes, paragraphs, headings, links, etc. Delete or modify as required

A folder labeled javascript containing:

  • One Javascript file labeled jquery.js containing…right again! jQuery version 1.3.2. Minified for your comfort.
  • One Javascript file labeled unitpngfix.js which contains Unit Interactive’s PNG Fix to sort out that stupid IE6 problem with transparent png’s.

A folder labeled images containing:

  • The clear.gif file required to make unitpngfix.js work.

A folder labeled media which contains nothing

One HTML file containing a pantload of content for basic styling (that’s where style.css comes in), links in the head to the javascript files, links to the stylesheets and an xhtml strict doctype.

How to use

Yeah, download it, drag it to your Applications folder, double click it and there you have it. It is strictly an Automator action so it is easily updatable and expandable to suit your purpose. Just open Automator and select Web Folder as the Existing Workflow you want to edit, give it a quick once over and add stuff till your heart’s content.

All I can say is that it’s very useful to me and might be useful to you if you, you know, do web stuff.
